WELSH PROVERBS

A willful fault has no excuse, and deserves no pardon.  Three things give us hardy strength: sleeping on hairy mattresses, breathing cold air, and eating dry food.  Without  perseverance  talent is a barren bed.  The best candle is understanding.  Be honorable yourself if you wish to associate with honorable people.  Adversity  comes with instruction in his hand.  Your hand is never the worse for doing its own work.  If every man would sweep his own door-step the city would soon be clean.  Adversity and loss make a man wise.  Conscience is the nest where all good is hatched.  A watched clock never tells the  time .  The advice of the aged will not mislead you.  A warm January; a cold May.

SCOTTISH PROVERBS

Never let your feet run faster than your shoes.  Be  happy  while you're living, For you're a long time dead.  What may be done at any  time  will be done at no time.  Learn young, learn fair; learn old, learn more.  Get what you can and keep what you have; that's the way to get rich.  Willful waste makes woeful want.  When the heart is full the tongue will speak.  Be slow in choosing a  friend  but slower in changing him.  Fools look to tomorrow. Wise men use tonight.  Confessed faults are half mended.  They that will not be counselled cannot be helped.  They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind.  Luck  never gives; it only lends.  Better be ill spoken of by one before all than by all before one.  Take care of your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves.

WHO OR WHAT DO WE LOVE MORE

A man was polishing his new car; his 4 yr old daughter picked up a stone and scratched on the side of the car. In anger, the furious Man took his child’s hand & hit it many times, not realizing he was using a wrench. At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw her father, with painful eyes he asked ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’ The man was so hurt and speechless. He went back to the car and kicked it many times. Devastated by his own actions, sitting in front of the car he looked at the scratches, His daughter had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’. MORAL LESSON :  Remember, Anger and Love have no limit.  Always remember that “Things are to be used and people are to be loved”.  But the problem in today’s world is that “People are being used & Things are being loved”.

ITALIAN PROVERBS

Anger  can be an expensive luxury.  Better give a penny then lend twenty.  Give  time  time.  Necessity becomes will.  The  habit  doesn't make a monk.  One who sleeps doesn't catch fish.  Silence was never written down.  The liar needs a good  memory .  Better one day as a lion than a hundred as a sheep.  A forced  kindness  deserves no thanks.  He who starts well is half way done.  Better an egg today than a chicken tomorrow  Give neither counsel nor salt till you are asked for it.  Who offends writes on sand; who is offended, on marble.  Between saying and doing many a pair of shoes is worn out.  Silence gives consent.  People in glass houses should not throw stones.  A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.  A fool and his money are soon parted.  He who does nothing, does not  fail .  Barking dogs don't bite.  Don't look a g...

ENGLISH PROVERBS

Many hands make light  work .  A bad penny always turns up.  An apple a day keeps the doctor away.  Actions  speak louder than words.  You are never to old to learn.  A bicycle can't stand on its own because it's two-tired.  A stumble may prevent a fall.  If you want to judge a man's  character , give him power.  If wishes were horses beggars might ride.  Everyone must row with the oars he has.  A stitch in  time  saves nine.  Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.  A man is as old as he feels himself to be.  It's a blessing in disguise.  Least said is soonest mended.
